December Question of the Month:
How do current parents contribute to a positive school climate and
strengthen the sense of community on which institutional health depends?
Parents at Punahou have many opportunities to help our own children as well as support faculty and staff. We are able to communicate with teachers who have email or we can write notes or receive them from teachers. The school's updated website and blogs keep parents informed of the latest as well as tickler email reminders of what is on the calendar for students at all grade levels. The campus is quite widespread yet, activities and parking for parents don't coincide with too much overlap so there are smooth transitions for parents to enter and exit school functions they've participated in. There are so many events and offered involvement for parents to work with faculty and staff at Punahou that build a sense of community or alumni who return to donate to Punahou. Students and alums take pride in saying they attended and graduated from Punahou because of their education and exposure to many coordinated activities.
